Dirk A. Benham, DC, the founder of Benham Chiropractic, graduated from Logan College of Chiropractic in 2000 and has located his natural health clinic in the St. Louis, Missouri area.  Prior to dedicating his life to the natural health care treatment of his patients, Dr. Benham pursued a successful career as a Mining Engineer in the Western United States.  He graduated from Colorado School of Mines in 1972 with a BSc in Mineral-Engineering Physics and in 1978 with a MSc in Mining Engineering.  Dr. Benham became interested in the energetic aspects of the human body while attending a weekend “Touch for Health” course in 1995.  During this course he became fascinated with the concept that the human body is more than just independent pieces and separate parts.  He quickly learned that there was an Innate Intelligence (Vital Life Force, Qi, or Spiritual Energy) that controls the entire human physiology and that all components of the body must work in unison in order to have Health.  This fascination led him to leave his mining engineering career and thus, he pursued a course of study that led him into the chiropractic field.  During his normal studies at Logan College of Chiropractic, he also enrolled in numerous weekend post-graduate courses that included Applied Kinesiology, Acupuncture, Auriculotherapy, and Homeopathy to advance his education in the natural healing field. During his studies in acupuncture, he became extremely interested in the organ-meridian-emotion relationships that the ancient Chinese acupuncturists have been using for the past 3000 years.  This interest led him to the Neuro Emotional Technique (NET) that is also a major emphasis in his practice today.

Dr. Benham has numerous interests outside his clinic.  His model railroading interests are ever present in his office with an HO scale trolley line operating on one wall of his treatment room.  He is an avid home brewer and is very proud of his lagers, stouts, and meads. He enjoys fencing with both foil and saber and is a member of the St. Louis Fencers Club.  Whenever possible he enjoys just getting out-of-doors and communing with the beauty of nature whether it be by gardening, working in the yard, or hiking in the woods.
