Sinus Problems                                                      Back to Healthful Hints

For those of you who suffer from seasonal allergies, periodic sinus headaches, or chronic sinus problems, relief can often times be obtained by employing the following method.

Perform a nasal/sinus rinse:  Mix ¼ to ½ teaspoon of non-iodized salt and a pinch or two of baking soda in a cup of luke-warm or body temperature water.  With the fully rotated to one side and laying the head horizontally over a sink, basin, or bathtub keeping the forehead and top of the head lower than the apertures or nasal openings of the nose, pour one-half the contents of the cup of water slowly into the top-most nasal opening, allowing the solution to flow and circulate through the nasal passage ways and exit through the lower nasal opening.  Repeat with the remaining ½ cup of solution by slowly pouring the contents through the other nasal opening with the head fully turned to the other side.  Note: This technique takes some practice and persistence, but when mastered the relief is well worth it!   This procedure can oftentimes be simplified by purchasing a “NETTI POT” which is available from Benham Chiropractic.
